What is Nutrition?

What is Nutrition ?

Nutrition is the science of food and how it affects our body in relation to growth, maintenance, health, reproduction and diseases. Nutrition includes food intake, absorption, how it is used in the body and how it gets excreted. it focuses on how people can use Dietary choices to reduce the risk of disease, Deficiency and toxicity of a nutrient and how allergies work.
Food and Nutrition are the way that we get fuel, providing energy for our bodies. Nutrients provide Nourishment. Proteins, Carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, fiber and water are all nutrients. If people do not have the right balance of nutrients in their diet, their risk of developing certain health conditions increases.

A healthy diet includes a lot of Natural Foods. A sizable portion of a healthy diet should consist of fruits and vegetables, Whole grains,  Dairy Products, Lean meat like Poultry, sea foods, eggs, etc, as well as beans and legumes.

Eating a balanced diet can help prevent nutritional deficiency conditions like Anemia (Iron - most common), Night Blindness (Vitamin A), Beri Beri (Vitamin B1), Scurvy (Vitamin C), Rickets (Vitamin D) and many more such conditions. Balanced diet also helps us prevent or manage chronic health conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardio Vascular Diseases, Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, Osteoporosis, Cancer, etc.

Your food choices and nutritional status can influence your overall health over the entire course of your life. The idiom "You are what you Eat" holds to be true in a lot of cases.
